WW-WRS Wind-Resistant Rolling Shutter Door
A project-configured industrial rolling shutter solution for exterior openings. Select the curtain, guides, connections, drive and safety controls against wind load, opening geometry, installation space and operating conditions.
Discuss a project configurationWind resistance, watertightness, air permeability, impact resistance and flood resistance are separate project requirements and must be specified and verified independently.
Four decisions shape the complete door
WW-WRS is not specified from a single nominal size. The full door configuration is confirmed against the project’s performance, interface and operating conditions.
Wind load and opening selection
Confirm positive and negative wind pressure requirements, clear width W, clear height H and installation space; then match the curtain, guides and connection approach.
Aluminium and stainless-steel options
Select curtain materials based on weight, appearance, surface finish, cleaning method and corrosive environment. Aluminium alloy or stainless-steel grades are confirmed for the project condition.
Operation, safety and typhoon readiness
Match the drive, duty cycle, limits, braking, anti-fall option and access safety measures to pedestrian, vehicle or forklift traffic. Assess manual operation, backup power and a typhoon closing procedure where required.
Building connection and optional reinforcement
Review the wall, column, beam and anchoring substrate with the project structural designer. Where needed, assess removable reinforcement, locking sequence and coordination with door operation.

Material and finish are project decisions
Aluminium alloy curtain
Balances weight, appearance and surface-treatment requirements. Slat form, alloy condition, coating colour and full-door configuration are confirmed against the opening and operating conditions.
Stainless-steel curtain
For projects that specify a stainless appearance, cleaning regime or corrosive environment. Grade options such as 304, 316 or 316L are evaluated with actual door weight and environmental conditions.
Performance values follow the verified configuration
Opening dimensions — selected from reviewed clear width W, clear height H and installation space.
Closed-door wind pressure — positive/negative pressure, design or limit value, reinforcement state and installation boundary are confirmed together.
Sealing — bottom and side-guide sealing can be evaluated; air, water and dust requirements are separately agreed.
Drive and duty — torque, power supply, phase/frequency, opening speed and durability are matched to door mass and traffic demand.
Controls and safety — button, remote, access-control or BMS interface; limit/over-travel, brake, anti-fall, safety edge, photoelectric or light-curtain options.
Emergency operation — manual operation and backup-power needs are assessed; site emergency procedure is defined in the confirmed solution.
Reference standards support project alignment, not automatic certification
The project must confirm the applicable edition, door category, test specimen, performance target and acceptance conditions. Reference documents do not by themselves certify an unverified door configuration.
FM 1-28 — Wind Design
May be used as a project wind-design reference to align the wind-pressure basis and document-acceptance conditions. It is not an FM Approval for WW-WRS.
JG/T 302-2022 — Rolling doors and windows
Used to confirm product category, relevant performance items and project test requirements.
GB/T 7106-2019 — building external doors and windows
Used when the project identifies applicable air permeability, watertightness and wind-load-resistance testing; pressure direction, loading, deflection and post-test operation must be agreed.

A complete door is more than its curtain
Before installation
Verify the opening, supporting structure and fixing substrate against the approved detailed design.
Commissioning and operation
Confirm limits, braking, safety devices and emergency operation. Complete typhoon closing, reinforcement and locking procedures where the project requires them.
Maintenance and post-wind inspection
Inspect curtain, guides, connections, transmission and safety devices; review the door after strong-wind events according to the maintenance instruction.
Project deliverables
Provide the confirmed configuration list and detailed drawing, applicable verification documents, certificate of conformity, installation/commissioning record and operation-maintenance instruction, as agreed in the technical documents and contract.
Project configuration FAQs
Is WW-WRS a flood door?
No. WW-WRS is a wind-resistant industrial rolling shutter door series. Flood-water resistance is a separate project requirement and must be specifically designed, specified and verified. It should not be represented as an FM-certified flood door unless the applicable product configuration has its own documented approval.
How is wind resistance determined?
The project should define positive and negative wind-pressure requirements and clarify whether values are design, allowable-strength or limit values. Door opening, curtain, guides, connections, reinforcement state, building interface and test/verification basis are then confirmed as one configuration.
Can aluminium and stainless steel both be offered?
Yes. Aluminium alloy and stainless-steel curtain options can be evaluated. The final material, finish, grade and full-door construction are selected according to weight, appearance, cleaning method, environmental corrosion conditions and project requirements.
Can the door be used in typhoon conditions?
Typhoon-related use must be defined by the confirmed wind-load basis, building connection, operating boundary and any reinforcement procedure. The project should distinguish closed-door wind resistance from conditions in which safe opening and closing are permitted, and establish the closing procedure in advance.
What information is needed for an engineered recommendation?
Provide clear opening width and height, installation space, positive/negative wind pressure, building substrate and interface information, operating frequency, traffic type, power supply, control interface, safety requirements, material/finish expectation and any required testing or acceptance standard.
